We are please to announce that our official start date for competition will be Saturday 28th November.

We were initially hoping for a week earlier but due to the length of time it took to get approved by the government and sporting bodies the extra week was needed. Delaying by one week also means possible lighter restrictions on how we conduct the events. The current rules state that we can only have 10 athletes at a time at any event which causes a lot of issues with splitting age groups and more complicated schedules. The next stage of easing of restrictions means we could have up to 50 athletes which means we can run full age groups at the same time. As we have said previously – this season is different and requires all families and athletes to be flexible.
We thank you for your understanding.

Please see this season’s handbook:

As Little Athletics is an outdoor non-contact sport it will be one of the first junior community sports to open back up (according to the Victorian Roadmap). Dates and details are still up in the air until there has been any official announcements from the government though.

In order for us to open up our season as soon as possible after the future announcements we are asking all interested families to complete our expression of interest form so we can forward plan even before registrations open.
This will give us a picture of how many returning athletes, new athletes and the sizes of age groups. It will also indicate how many officials will be required to run our events efficiently.

We strongly encourage ALL families to complete this expression of interest. Everyone who completes the expression of interest will be sent registration details once it opens.

Little Athletics is a modified children’s athletics program for 5yo to 15yo athletes. Athletes participate and compete weekly with their friends during season, learning the many disciplines of athletics, such as running (sprinting, hurdles, endurance running), jumping (long jump, high jump, triple jump) and throwing (discus, shot put, javelin).
We are a community oriented sport.

After a wash out one week, then region the following week – it was great to be back at Little Athletics this morning for another meet. The weather was kinder to us this morning with moments of sunshine and not too much wind. We handed out plenty of pb awards and also finally had the chance to present the centre records we’ve had so far. Thank you as always for the great participation from parents helping out at events to ensure we get through the program.

Centre Records:
It was a busy morning with 4 centre records being broken and 2 new records due to a new event.
*Liam J, U11 M, Discus, 25.05m (beating a record from last season).
*Lachlan W, U12 M, Shot Put, 7.75m (beating his own previous record).
*Abbey M, U16 F, Shot Put, 9.84m (beating her own previous record).
*Abbey M, U16 F, 90m Hurdles, 16.71s (beating a record which has been standing for 6 years)

As the u8 400m this morning was changed to an unlaned event due to LAVic rules and regulations we opened it up as a new event and therefore as it was run for the first time, our winners today have gone into the record book:
*Tayla J, U8 F, 400m, 1:38.35
*Mater P, U8 M, 400m, 1:39.47

Upcoming Events:
Next Meet: Sat 23rd Nov (Program 1) **athlete’s attending Region Relays will receive average event points**
Sat 30th Nov: Coburg-Sunbury Challenge at Harold Stevens Athletics Track, Coburg. This is considered a normal points meet for athletes of all ages to compete against another Centre.
Thurs 12th Dec: Last meet for the season (twilight). Will be for season points, but will have a Xmas theme.
