For the second week in a row we had cold and icy winds to contend with. Therefore hurdles and high jump was cancelled. We re-arranged the program so that all athletes still got there 4-5 events in for the day. We also ran a shorter program to try and beat the storms that were on the way.
Thank you for all the officials who were flexible with the change of program and for the athletes and parents for their understanding.

Please note that we still have competition this weekend on Saturday 2nd November even though it is Cup Weekend. Hope to see you there!

We were lucky enough to have an extra official this week – Rachel C assisted Deb at discus to learn the ropes.
Again – we encourage anyone interested in learning any of the official roles to make contact with us to discuss. The more officials we have the less demand there is on them each week and we have the capacity to rotate the role and to ensure we have fill ins when people are away.

Parent Helpers:
This week saw 21 parent helpers. Please ensure you don’t get stuck sitting behind the fence – follow your children around to their events and get involved. You will also get to see their performances up close. Don’t wait to be asked to help, please offer your assistance. The events run much quicker if we don’t have to search for helpers.
Our gold medal performance for parent helpers this week goes to Rachel C who assisted in discus the whole meet (5 events); Tony N (4 events) and Chris O (4 events) – thank you for your help!
Please ensure when you do assist at an event that you sign your name off on the parent helper sheet. If you’re unsure where it is , please ask the event official.

New Centre Records:
Even in the trying conditions we have another Centre Record when Abbey broke her own record from a couple of weeks ago:
Abbey M U16 Girls, 400m, 1:11.59

We have a few centre record certificates to hand out from the previous couple of weeks and one from last season too. We will present these on Saturday.

Region Combined Carnival:
The Northern Metro Region Combined Event Carnival is Sunday 10th November 2019 at Broadmeadows Valley Park, Barry Road, Meadow Heights.
Entries have now closed but we received a great response to this event with 26 athletes entered. It is nice to see a few u9 athletes entered into their first ever region carnival and a few new athletes in the mix amongst the usual athletes who attend region events. We look forward to a great day out supporting all the Sunbury team on Sunday 10th November.
